FATT PROJECTS: A THEMIFESTO FOR QUEER JOY

We imagine a world without shame.
We imagine a world where the concept of shame has never existed. 

We imagine a world where the structures of shame have never been used to police our bodies, our sexuality, or our genders.

This is the world in which our work takes place, our world reimagined without shame.  We create spaces for audiences, artists and communities to explore what a world without shame might feel like, to occupy it.

We celebrate what queerness has to offer the world. 
We demonstrate what queerness has to offer the world.
We come out to invite in.  

We recognise that in every action lives the potential for community, for solidarity, and for transformation. Our work is an invitation to build connections and dismantle the structures which seek to limit us.  

We will not be limited. 

We choose to move beyond pride. 
We reject pride as a means to overcome shame. 
we will no longer give power to shame. 
We want more for our community than to be defined by the way others have treated us.

We pursue our own joy. 
We centre our own joy. 
We advance our own joy.

We use the resources available to us to instil joy in others. With care, collectivity, and accountability, we make space for others to connect to queer joy. And through joy-making, we will heal. 

We make possible the queer futures we were denied as children; the worlds of safety and celebration and plurality that we were denied even the language to conceptualise. 

We will build the bright, textured, rich, glittering, iridescent, hopeful, bold, radical, musical, joyous, passionate, tender, chaotic, and transcendent futures we longed for, and still long for. 

We will see utopia within our lifetimes.
